Contest #2 ends this Sunday – WIN YOURSELF THE WICKED GAMES VHS/DVD RELEASE with our BAD ART CONTEST!
The VHS market in the 90’s, thanks to so many direct to video releases and overnight start up distributors, had some of the worst, yet most memorable artwork ever created. With that in mind, we want YOU to create some BAD artwork… not just bad, but inspired bad. It can be just truly inept, like made from bad sketches; or it can be clueless, like pictures poorly arranged/cropped or made from piss poor pics or framegrabs; or it can be incredibly misleading, like artwork that promises “Avatar” sized production values in a backyard SOV flick. Or it can be something else, but again we are looking for something more than just bad art, but inspired bad art, like the “Manos: Hands of Fate” of bad art. The art can be of the following “Truth or Dare: A Critical Madness”, “Wicked Games” or the “Truth or Dare” series as a whole… only these topics will be considered. If you want to make bad art for another movie, we will certainly look at it and post it for all to enjoy, but it won’t be considered for this contest. Now why would you do all this work? Well, for one, the winner, as picked by Tim and myself, will get a free copy of the “Wicked Games: Snuff Remix Edition” VHS/DVD (pre-order approx April 1st), plus we will print a mini poster for your work to be included in all copies sold of this movie. Submission deadline is Feb 17th, 2013, and all entries should be emailed to me on Facebook and then I will post afterward. It’s been a good winter so far for b-movie and underground movie fans! SRS has launched a series of interesting and fun projects over the last few months, appealing to fans both old and new.

Over the past few months, SRS’s DVD line has put up a re-release of Scooter McCrae’s classic Shot On Video zombie flick “Shatter Dead“. Sales have been strong and steady for this cult hit. Shortly before Christmas, we unleashed the 4th movie in Tim Ritter’s “Truth or Dare” series, “Deadly Dares“. The title has been consistently sold out on amazon.com and reviews have been strong from critics and fans alike! And coming in February 2013, we bring you Chris Seaver’s latest craziness “Sexsquatch: The Legend of Blood Stool Creek“. This is the prolific filmmaker’s first venture into HD filmmaking and the movie looks great, while overflowing the usual brand of Seaver humor his fan’s have come to know and love!

SRS also relaunched it’s much beloved but long dormant Sub Rosa Studios label with a pair of limited edition VHS/DVD combo packs. The premiere release was Tim Ritter’s first flick, the super 8mm “Day of the Reaper“, which sold out in about 4 days. On 1/2/2013 we launched the second release, also from Tim, “Twisted Illusions: Ultimate Edition“, a compilation of Tim’s original SOV anthology plus the sequel made over 20 years later! TI:UE is selling faster than DOR so far, and we’re expecting it to sell out within the next day or so!

And we have more exciting stuff to come. On the horizon from SRS are 2 limited edition 5 pack bricks under the “American Gore Stories” Banner. Each pack will have 5 classics from SRS, in full DVD form, all packaged in a neat gift set wrap around. We also have Chris Seaver’s “Geek War” coming out soon, and editing continues on Ron Bonk’s ode to Grindhouse cinema “She Kills“. Ron has several scripts in development, including a joint venture with Tim that should be in production before the summer.

Sub Rosa has more limited edition VHS/DVD releases planned. We have Ross Marshall’s long unavailable “Unnaturally Born Killers” being prepped for a mid-January release. We also have Tim Ritter’s “Truth or Dare” coming out on a special edition early Feb. Then after that we have cult filmmaker Brad Sykes’ first feature, the SOV classic “the Pact” out around mid-Feb. Beyond that, we have a few surprises that should be in soon that we will be announcing, and we have a catalog of old titles just kicking around that need new releases. Stay tuned for some exciting stuff here!

Tim Ritter’s original cult classic “Day of the Reaper” – shot when he was just a junior in high school on silent Super 8mm and redubbed in editing – returns for a very limited run of only 50 copies on 11/15/2012.  BE READY – this release is sure to sell out, and only 50 will EVER be released!  Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

We’ve revived our beloved but long dormant Sub Rosa Video label for this special edition release, the first in what will definitely be a series of collectible limited edition releases & re-releases in honor of our 20th anniversary in the distribution business.  For just $25 you will get the movie on both VHS and DVD in a hard shell combo box; a copy of Tim’s original artwork on a 4×6 card; a piece of film from the ACTUAL MOVIE; and Tim’s autograph!

Most special edition VHS re-releases you see these days only offer the VHS for $25 or more, but we realize some fans seeking out this ultra rare movie might just want it on DVD too, so we’re going a step further than most with this release.

The new “Day of the Reaper” VHS/DVD goes up for sale on Nov 15th.  We will announce an approx time on our SRS Cinemas Facebook page in the days shortly beforehand (some advice – go “Like” us so NOW so you don’t miss the announcement), so stay tuned – because again, only 50 will be run, and once it’s gone, and they will sell out fast, it is gone for good!

Syracuse, NY — In honor of 20th anniversary in distribution, SRS will be launching a series of limited edition VHS titles.  What each title will include will be detailed in the near future, but expect some extra cool bonuses!  Each release will be limited to JUST 50 copies, and all are legit, fully licensed releases.

Our first line of titles, which could pop up as early as November, will focus on Tim Ritter’s extensive filmography.  We will be launching special limited edition VHS releases of “Day of the Reaper” and “Twisted Illusions Ultimate Edition”, the latter of which is a special cut that combines both the original and the sequel.  We will be going through the entire Ritter library, so watch for new releases almost monthly.

Our second line will focus on random out of print SRS releases.  These could debut as early as December.  Titles will be announced soon.
